welcome spring babies!

I love walking around the Hill, our small village in the big city, and seeing all of the new babies in the spring. This sweet girl had some especially good timing as she arrived during a warm spell and came home right as the cherry blossoms peaked. Such love…..

PHOTOPIA turns ten

Today is the last day of January, still the beginning of 2012 and I feel that I am finally catching up and ready to start the new year. Today also the birthday of my first child – my baby turns eleven today [crazy!] and it seems a fitting time to share images of a beautiful, new baby girl and launch PHOTOPIA’s tenth year!

There are so many exciting projects and plans afoot, including new print collections, more benefits for return clients and great referral bonuses. To make sure that you stay in the loop and get our monthly news and quarterly postcards please send your info our way.

And now for a few faves of this amazing baby….and I just have to share some pregnancy images of her gorgeous mama too. I even pulled out my old box camera and film for that session – what fun!

baby love

Love, love, love this yummy little guy! Can you see his amazing blue eyes and how he just lit up when his gorgeous mama came into view? I got him to smile a bit too but nothing like when he saw the love of his life.

sweet sleepy baby

I had a wonderful afternoon photographing this sweet boy recently. The family’s home had amazing light and made for a great indoor location on a cool day. As babies will do he cried and pouted then promptly fell asleep after his mama fed him. I was in awe just watching him and enjoyed admiring him with his parents. Those lips -those toes!

And here are those amazing toes, with his parents’ hands on either side:

canvas gallery wraps are here

Many of you have asked about canvas prints and I finally took the plunge and ordered studio samples. They are quite lovely and a much higher quality than what was previously available. Here’s an image of my favorite, a 25×30, above my desk:

But this one didn’t last long…it was only on my wall for a few days and is now hanging in the babies’ nursery! Thanks to Amy for sending this shot when she got home. Can you see the babies sleeping in the bed below? Love it!

sweet, sweet twins

So, if you know me you know I’m a bit of a softie who weeps at movies and goodbyes…but I can tell you that every time I see those babies after creating the mama’s pregnancy portrait, my eyes well up and I am just amazed. Here are a some images that I love from this recent newborn session. These little guys are only a week old – perfect timing for a newborn session. Check out the last image where the neighbors all came to see the new babies for the first time!

a boost for babies and expectant mamas

I had a great meeting with a fellow Hill mama last week: Janet specializes in pre-natal massage, infant massage plus teaches pre-natal and couples yoga. We’re working out ways to support each other’s businesses. To start I’m delighted to offer my clients who purchase a pregnancy/newborn package a private, one hour infant massage class with Janet!

now back to that new baby

It’s hard to believe that new babies are so perfect and beautiful but they always are [ok, well, almost]. I mentioned this session in an earlier post and am now getting to share the photos with you. Yes, tears did truly fill up my eyes upon seeing this babe – she was one week old to the day and just amazing. The close-up of her finger is with her grandma’s – I love seeing the generations together even in an abstracted way.

baby brother

“Baby Firetruck” arrived last week! It was a delight to photograph him in the same yard where I took pix of his big brother as a newborn three years ago. Here Jonah is only a week old – still new but so old and wise too. I was tearing up behind the camera during the series of the boys together – truly!
