PHOTOPIA turns ten

Today is the last day of January, still the beginning of 2012 and I feel that I am finally catching up and ready to start the new year. Today also the birthday of my first child – my baby turns eleven today [crazy!] and it seems a fitting time to share images of a beautiful, new baby girl and launch PHOTOPIA’s tenth year!

There are so many exciting projects and plans afoot, including new print collections, more benefits for return clients and great referral bonuses. To make sure that you stay in the loop and get our monthly news and quarterly postcards please send your info our way.

And now for a few faves of this amazing baby….and I just have to share some pregnancy images of her gorgeous mama too. I even pulled out my old box camera and film for that session – what fun!

canvas gallery wraps are here

Many of you have asked about canvas prints and I finally took the plunge and ordered studio samples. They are quite lovely and a much higher quality than what was previously available. Here’s an image of my favorite, a 25×30, above my desk:

But this one didn’t last long…it was only on my wall for a few days and is now hanging in the babies’ nursery! Thanks to Amy for sending this shot when she got home. Can you see the babies sleeping in the bed below? Love it!

new slideshow

Well, we made it to Maine where there’s yes, even more rain, rain, rain…luckily my portrait sessions are mostly next week when the forecast looks a bit more promising. I’ve buckled down to work while my kids are at camp and have finally figured out this cool, new slideshow program. Check out some highlights from a recent pregnancy session below. All clients will now receive a link for a slideshow of faves after their print ordering session – fun, eh?

spring inspiration

Things are happily percolating here at PHOTOPIA – I took an amazing workshop for portrait photographers and my head is spinning with ideas. In the coming weeks, keep your eyes out for new products, including albums and canvas prints, great savings for return clients and a new referral program for your friends.

If you’d like to be added to my mailing list for e-newsletters and postcards a few times a year, please send me your email and home address. This is the best way to hear about special offers and all the exciting developments – so stay tuned.

Happy spring to all!

new postcard

Well, my newest postcard is hot off the press and I’m so excited about it. The darling baby featured here is not only beautiful and so loved by his mama, his Hebrew name means heart – perfect for Valentine’s Day, right?

As some of you know, I started mailing out a postcard series last year by sending b&w images to both past and prospective clients every few months. My hope is that this brings something that you truly enjoy seeing in your mail.

If you’re not on my mailing list and would like to be, please send your address. You not only get a lovely picture to stick on your fridge or bulletin board but get first news of my specials and seasonal promotions.

a boost for babies and expectant mamas

I had a great meeting with a fellow Hill mama last week: Janet specializes in pre-natal massage, infant massage plus teaches pre-natal and couples yoga. We’re working out ways to support each other’s businesses. To start I’m delighted to offer my clients who purchase a pregnancy/newborn package a private, one hour infant massage class with Janet!

new albums

I’ve been so busy with fall portrait sessions that I haven’t had time to post new images lately. Thanks to my clients, I’ve explored some new gardens and also photographed at some of my favorite DC fall spots.

Yesterday I took pix of a one week old, who’s mama I’d photographed pregnant. I kid you not, my eyes welled up when I saw that amazing little babe. I promise to post some of those images soon.

For now I’m so excited to share some shots of the new album that I’m offering. It’s a gorgeous 15×11.5 inches, linen bound and printed on nice, heavy stock. Here are some images to give you an idea of the possibilities – these from an extended family session in Maine in June.

Enjoy!
